FAQS
GENERAL CAPABILITIES & SERVICES
Q: What types of projects does Meson Electrical Services deliver?
We design, build, and integrate electrical control systems, fuel infrastructure panels, bespoke electrical systems, and energy management solutions. Our work spans new-build installations, retrofits, AI-integrated platforms, and hazardous area applications (ATEX/COMPEX).
Q: Do you only work in automotive and fuel sectors?
No. While we have extensive experience in these sectors, we also support renewable energy, manufacturing, water treatment, land remediation and process industries. Our expertise applies wherever intelligent, safety-compliant control systems are required.
Q: Can you deliver turnkey solutions?
Yes. We provide full-scope services: consultation, design (CAD/EPLAN), build, pre-testing, delivery, installation, final commissioning, and aftercare. This includes control panels, mechanical tunnel assemblies, cabling, and containment.
Q: Are you accredited or certified?
Yes, we are NICEIC-accredited and qualified to work in hazardous environments via COMPEX-certification. Our electrical panels are built to BS EN 61439 and UKCA/CE standards. Are solar installs are aligned with the MCS standard.
Q: Our project is highly bespoke and technically complex — is it something you can handle?
Yes. We specialise in delivering complex, high-specification projects where standard solutions fall short. From complex control systems and hazardous area panels to large-scale infrastructure and bespoke sensor arrays, our team thrives on technical challenges. We tailor every solution from the ground up - ensuring integration, performance, and compliance at any scale.
DESIGN & ENGINEERING
Q: What software platforms do you use for system design?
We use EPLAN Electric P8 for electrical schematics and layout drawings, Siemens TIA Portal for PLC and HMI programming, and AutoCAD for general infrastructure and site layouts. We also collaborate across platforms when required.
Q: Which components and platforms do you support?
We integrate a wide range of control equipment including Siemens (full S7 & ET ranges), Mitsubishi, Schneider, Omron, Allen-Bradley, Beckhoff, and others. We also support IO-Link, Modbus, Profibus, Profinet, and other industrial protocols.
Q: Can we supply our own specification or preferred components?
Absolutely. We can work to customer-defined BOMs or propose a technically optimised alternative that meets your integration, space, and budget requirements.
Q: How flexible is your panel design for future upgrades?
We typically include spare I/O and PSU capacity where space allows. However, all anticipated hardware should be confirmed during design finalisation to avoid downstream limitations. We build future proof panels when in the clients best interest so designing with the future in mind is always something we consider.
BUILD, TESTING & LOGISTICS
Q: Do you offer off-site build and pre-testing?
Yes. All control panels are fully wired, powered, and tested in-house prior to delivery. For infrastructure like inspection tunnels, we conduct dry-fits and hardware integration tests where possible.
Q: Are systems built in modular format for transport and reassembly?
Yes. Fabrication and large-scale controls are designed to allow easy shipment and on-site installation. Mounting hardware and mechanical fixings are designed with reassembly in mind.
Q: Can you manage the full installation process?
Yes — this includes unloading, assembly, positioning, electrical containment runs, wiring integration, and commissioning. We also coordinate access, site RAMS, and H&S compliance.
Q: What if there’s no secure storage space available on-site?
We request that material storage is discussed at order stage. Either secure site storage or coordinated just-in-time delivery can be arranged, depending on the programme.
COMMISSIONING & HANDOVER
Q: What commissioning services are included?
We conduct full final connection, on-site testing, functional verification, and operator training. Typically, no more than 2 days are allocated for commissioning, depending on system complexity.
Q: Do you offer remote support or ongoing service contracts?
Remote and on-call technical support can be arranged. We also offer periodic servicing, testing, and inspection packages — especially for fuel installations and hazardous areas.
SUPPORT, WARRANTY & SERVICE
Q: Do your systems come with a warranty?
Yes. All control panels and installations come with a 12-month workmanship warranty as standard, starting from the date of commissioning. Manufacturer warranties for components (e.g. Siemens, Vega, Omron) are honoured and extended where available. Extended warranties can be arranged upon request.
Q: Do you offer testing, inspection, and repair services across operational fuel sites?
Yes. We provide full testing, inspection, and remedial services across fuel depots, generator farms, and hazardous-area installations. This includes COMPEX-qualified electricians for ATEX environments, certification renewal, and emergency diagnostics.
Q: Do you offer reactive callout or emergency response contracts?
Yes. We offer tailored response packages including:
Ad hoc callouts for unplanned breakdowns
Response contracts for agreed SLAs and guaranteed engineer dispatch if required
Preventative maintenance contracts to reduce unplanned failures and extend asset life. Response services can be adapted for fuel infrastructure, control systems, and high-reliability installations.
Q: Can you support systems remotely (diagnostics, updates, etc.)?
Yes. Where systems are enabled for remote access (usually via industrial router), we can:
Monitor performance and status
Apply software updates
Troubleshoot issues
Provide guided support for on-site engineers
Basic functionality tweaks within limits
COMMERCIAL TERMS & DELIVERY
Q: What is your standard lead time for projects?
Indicative durations (subject to confirmation):
2 weeks for design sign-off
4 weeks for procurement
8 weeks for panel build and infrastructure fabrication
2 weeks for on-site works
Total: ~16 weeks from order to completion (example only)
Q: What is your payment schedule?
Our standard structure is:
30% deposit on order
30% on design approval & start of build
30% on delivery to site
10% on commissioning and final acceptance
Q: Can we change scope or add features after order?
Yes, subject to availability and cost implications. Changes requested after design freeze may impact delivery timelines and require a variation order.
Q: Do you offer nationwide coverage?
Yes. We operate across the UK, delivering projects from initial design through to on-site installation, commissioning, and ongoing support. Whether it's a remote fuel depot, an automotive manufacturing site, or a high-tech energy facility, our engineers are equipped to mobilise nationwide — including hazardous area work and shutdown-sensitive environments.
