Temporary Tank Refilling Station
When critical onsite refuelling was at risk during the rebuild of a key facility, Meson engineered a temporary tank system that kept operations running safely and seamlessly with full monitoring, control, and hybrid power built in.
STEP ONE
What Was the Brief?
Our client needed to decommission existing fuel tanks and dispensers as part of a major site redevelopment project. To ensure the continuity of on-site vehicle fuelling operations during construction, they required a robust, temporary fuel tank solution that could be easily transported and deployed across multiple sites, independently powered, and compliant with stringent safety and operational requirements.
During this complex, multi-phase project, it was vital to maintain continuous onsite fuelling for essential vehicles. The client required a temporary, fully self contained fuel storage and dispensing solution that met several demanding criteria:
Business Continuity - Maintain uninterrupted fuelling during facility downtime.
Portability & Flexibility - Easily re-deployable to multiple project sites as needed.
Self-Sufficiency - Operates independently with generator, battery, and solar backup.
Safety & Compliance – Meets safety standards with leak, overfill, and control measures.
Integration & Coordination - Designed for seamless fit-out with manufacturer & Installation collaboration.
STEP TWO
What Did Meson Do?
We designed and built a standalone temporary tank system featuring both petrol and diesel tanks, twin dispensers, an integrated fuel management system, offload pumps, and comprehensive controls. The solution included:
A purpose-built control panel utilizing Siemens PLC with UPS battery backup and solar support.
Intrinsically safe high-level tuning forks and multiple safety measures to prevent overfilling and ensure leak detection.
Flexible power: connection to site supply where available, or use of a 10kW onboard generator with solar and battery backup.
Custom-fit design in collaboration with the tank manufacturer, using 3D modeling for seamless integration and efficient installation.
A tailored start-stop system and controls, with user-centric tweaks (such as visual and audible acknowledgments) added in response to real feedback during commissioning.
STEP THREE
What Was the Result?
The custom temporary tank solution was successfully deployed, effectively sustaining on-site fuelling for high-security vehicles while permanent facilities were rebuilt. The system has since been used across multiple sites with positive feedback from users. Key outcomes include:
Eliminated the need for critical vehicles to refuel off-site, saving time and reducing security risks.
Minimised operational downtime during major construction works.
Achieved a modular, re-deployable solution for future site transitions and maintenance needs.
Key Features
Fully integrated safety and leak detection systems
Modular transportable design for multi-site use
Hybrid power with generator, UPS & Solar
User responsive design with real-time control
The commissioning revealed high satisfaction, with particular praise for the system’s reliability and responsive aftercare. User suggestions led to minor but impactful interface improvements, such as indicators for generator startup, underscoring our commitment to continuous refinement.
